< Weekend Box Office Wrap-up:...
Digital artist BossLogic brings Josh Brolin’s Cable from Deadpool 2 and Thanos from Avengers: Infinity War together in a new image. Marvel Studios is gearing up to launch the beginning of the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 3, with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and the Guardians of the Galaxy uniting in
Avengers: Infinity War to take on the Mad Titan Thanos who is
gathering the Infinity Stones. Marvel has been teasing the villainous Thanos since he first appeared at the end of The Avengers , but fans will get their first good look at the Mad Titan in Infinity War.
Meanwhile, 2oth Century Fox is continuing their own superhero franchise as the studio prepares to release Deadpool 2 – a sequel to the massively successful Deadpool that debuted in 2016 – next year. The first film teased the introduction of fan-favorite comic character Cable, and it was later announced that Brolin was cast in the role, meaning the actor has two current Marvel movie roles – just in separate franchises. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige weighed in on the Cable casting , saying he didn’t see anything wrong with it. Now, new fan art mashes up Brolin’s two Marvel roles.
Digital artist BossLogic , who’s known for his renderings of actors and actresses is various comic book superhero roles, has debuted a new image that unites Brolin’s Cable and Thanos. The artist previously released fan art of Brolin’s Cable with Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet after Fox released the first look at Cable from Deadpool 2, but this new piece offers a new look at the characters mashed up.
With Avengers: Infinity War set to premiere in theaters in early May next year, and the Deadpool sequel set to hit in early June, the two movies will be released within a month of each other, offering fans of Brolin plenty of opportunity to see him portray two separate comic book characters. Of course, as Deadpool 2 director David Leitch pointed out, Cable and Thanos are different enough characters – especially since Brolin’s portrayal of Thanos is motion capture – that moviegoers likely won’t mind they’re played by the same actor.
Of course, while Brolin’s Thanos is set to appear again in the MCU thanks to the Untitled Avengers 4 installment that’s due out in 2019, the future of Brolin’s Cable is a little more unclear. He’s expected to reappear in Fox’s Deadpool 3 and X-Force films, but with Disney looking to acquire 20th Century Fox – and some other assets from the studio’s parent company 21st Century Fox – it’s unclear what, if any, ramifications the potential sale would have on Brolin’s two Marvel roles.
However, until the sale goes through, fans can expect to see Brolin return as Cable and Thanos for at least a few more years. And, with BossLogic’s latest rendering of the actor’s Marvel roles, fans get the chance to see the actor as both Cable and Thanos at the same time.
